La Joute ("The Joust") a fountain by Quebec sculptor Jean-Paul Riopelle. It consists of a large fountain which occasionally bursts into flame.
Most of the time it's a small quietly burbling fountain in a small public park.
The show begins with steam issuing from vents next to the nearby the benches.
The steam runs for several minutes, slowly covering the park area.
Steam then issues from the fountain itself, which springs to life.
As the fountain dies down, fire erupts from the pond surrounding it.
The flames are produced by natural gas vents just below the water surface.
